Just a quick post to let you know about an upcoming event on Tuesday, June 29 at Centre A in Vancouver (2 W. Hastings). The event is a celebration of the artists who live and work in the Downtown Eastside (Canada’s poorest postal code) who received arts grants over the last year from the Carnegie Centre. The grants were funded by the Vancouver Foundation and, through a competitive process, given to artists for projects that would further their art careers.
I’m proud to have been a recipient of one of the grants last year. I used the grant to start creating my series of trading cards depicting superheroes who are battling climate change. I’m planning to have some of the trading cards printed in time for next week’s event.
As you can see from the list below, more than 25 artists received grants and will be showcasing their work on the 29th. If you’re in town, I’d love for you to join us to experience the unveiling and celebration of everyone’s creative work.
