Small Arts Grants exhibit at Gallery Gachet

Twice now I’ve been fortunate to receive a small arts grant through Carnegie Community Centre and the Vancouver Foundation. This past year, I used the grant to hire a professional art photographer to take high quality photographs of my work. I’ve been able to use these images to create reproductions of my paintings which I’m selling through Art for Conservation.

More than 60 artists living and working in the Downtown Eastside area of Vancouver received these grants, and Gallery Gachet (88 E. Cordova St.) has put together an exhibition featuring work from most of the artists. The exhibition is up until Sunday, June 3.

Janet Smith at the Georgia Straight has written a great story about the grants and the show in this week’s edition, which you can read here. If you’re in Vancouver, pick up a hard copy of the paper to see one of my paintings (it’s in the centrefold!).

Many thanks to the Vancouver Foundation for continuing to support the careers of local artists.
